Kick off the concert season in style at the enchanting Sip and Listen series with Passione Italiana, a captivating blend of beloved opera arias and classic Neapolitan songs.
This intimate and exclusive evening features the distinguished Maltese tenor Alan Sciberras, whose rich and expressive voice has graced prestigious stages across Europe and beyond. Joining him is the remarkable pianist Sofia Narmania, an internationally acclaimed virtuoso and passionate collaborator, whose artistry and experience in opera accompaniment add depth and elegance to every note.
As you sip prosecco, allow yourself to be transported by timeless masterpieces from Puccini, Verdi, and Giordano, seamlessly interwoven with the romantic charm of Neapolitan classics like Torna a Surriento and Parlami d’amore Mariu.
Tenor Alan Sciberras is a rising international operatic voice who has performed with leading ensembles across Europe, including the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra and prestigious Puccini festivals in Lucca and Torre del Lago. Trained under renowned sopranos and vocal pedagogues, he made his debut as Rodolfo in “La Bohème” and has since appeared in roles such as Cavaradossi (Tosca), Ismaele (Nabucco) and Gastone (La Traviata). His performances have been showcased internationally in Brussels, London, Italy and South America, with notable appearances in Verdi’s “Requiem” and Rossini’s “Stabat Mater”.
Pianist Sofia Narmania, who will be providing pianistic accompaniment, is a First Prize winner of an international piano competition in Italy. Sofia has performed extensively across Europe and beyond, appearing in Greece, Germany, France, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Russia, Abkhazia, and Malta. Her broad and diverse repertoire spans all major musical periods and styles, ranging from the works of Scarlatti and Bach to Liszt, Rachmaninoff, Ginastera, and Piazzolla.
Set within the beautiful and atmospheric St. Augustine Priory Apse in Valletta, this concert invites you to sit back, sip prosecco, and immerse yourself in an evening where music and conviviality intertwine. After the concert, patrons are invited to visit: The Archaeological Site and Courtyard, the 16th Century Chapel and Priory Remains, a World War II Shelter, the Crypt and Ossuary and a Maltese Festa Representation.
