Trumpet & Tranquillity: Sacred and Reflective Sounds

Barocco Foundation, in collaboration with Din l-Art Ħelwa, is pleased to present the final concert of its 2024–2025 lunchtime concert season. Taking place on Tuesday 27th May at 12:30pm at the historic Our Lady of Victory Church in Valletta, this recital promises a reflective and uplifting musical experience featuring acclaimed trumpeter Jason Camilleri and pianist Franco Cefai.

The programme offers a varied and evocative selection of works that highlight the expressive and celebratory qualities of the trumpet. It opens with the vibrant Festive Trumpet Tune by David German, setting the tone for a concert that celebrates both technical brilliance and lyrical beauty. This is followed by the introspective piece Reflections for Trumpet by David Harris.

The programme continues with Peter Graham’s Celtic Dream, a work infused with lyrical melodies and folk-inspired charm. The familiar and soul-stirring strains of Amazing Grace, arranged from the beloved traditional tune, offer a moment of quiet reverence. Jason Camilleri will also perform Share My Yoke by Joy Webb arranged by Leonard Ballantine, a deeply moving piece often associated with spiritual reflection and comfort.

A highlight of the programme is Kindness by William Stowman, a composition that combines warmth and emotion. The recital will also include the charming Walking in the Meadows, arranged by Helge Haukas.  The serene and noble Swedish Hymn, arranged by Peter Graham, brings a sense of calm and grace to the programme. The concert will conclude with All Hail the Power by James Curnow, a stirring and majestic finale that celebrates the grandeur of sacred music.
