Bach Cello Suites

Barocco Foundation, in collaboration with Din l-Art Ħelwa, proudly presents an exceptional lunchtime concert featuring the acclaimed cellist, Lucie Kucharova. This inspiring musical event will take place at the historic Our Lady of Victory Church, Valletta, on Tuesday, 11 March at 12:30pm.

Lucie Kucharová will present an intriguing programme dedicated to the timeless works of Johann Sebastian Bach, showcasing the expressive power and technical brilliance of the cello.

The concert will open with the Aria from the Goldberg Variations, BWV 988, a piece renowned for its delicate beauty and meditative quality. This will be followed by selections from Bach’s Cello Suite No. 1 in G Major, BWV 1007, featuring the elegant Prelude, Allemande, Courante, Sarabande, Menuet I and II, and the lively Gigue. The performance will also include movements from Bach’s Cello Suite No. 3 in C Major, BWV 1009, a work celebrated for its warmth and grandeur, with the Prelude, Allemande, Courante, Sarabande, Bourrée I and II, and the spirited Gigue.

After the concert, patrons are invited for free to the cellar of the church to watch a short audio visual show about the building, history and the restoration of this gem. 

Bach Cello Suites: will be held at Our Lady of Victory church, Valletta on Tuesday 11 March 2025 at 12:30pm.
