Barocco Foundation, in collaboration with Din l-Art Ħelwa, is pleased to present a captivating classical guitar concert on Tuesday 21 January 2025, at 12:30pm. The concert will take place in the serene and historic setting of Our Lady of Victory church, Valletta offering an enchanting midday escape through the beauty of music. The recital features the exceptional talents of Bernard Catania and Alison Casha, two gifted guitarists whose artistry and technical brilliance promise to captivate the audience.
Their carefully curated programme highlights the rich repertoire of classical guitar, opening with: “Fughetta & Allegretto” by F. Carulli, “Der Spiegel and Romance & Rondo” from Eine Kleine Nachtmusik by W.A. Mozart and L.V. Beethoven’s “Sonata in E minor”. The intriguing programme continues with five vibrant Latin American pieces, each infused with rhythm, emotion, and cultural flavour: “A Casinah”, “Tonada”, “La Adelita”, “Pajarito and Sozinho Eu Não Fico”.
This recital will conclude with two masterpieces that capture the essence of Latin American music, “Choro: Sons de Carrilhões” by João Pernambuco and “Dernier Lamento and Libertango” by Astor Piazzolla. The final selection will infuse the programme with a compelling fusion of passion, rhythm, and expressive melodies, intending to instil in the audience a powerful and evocative musical experience.
