Libertango!
Guitarist Evan Plumpton and flautist Fiorella Camilleri are presenting a programme of exciting rhythms and sensual Latin inspired music. The concert will be held on Wednesday 1 May 2013 at 8pm at Palazzo de Piro Cultural Centre, Mdina.
The guitar and flute concert will feature the famous and sensual Libertango which was composed by the Argentinean tango composer and bandoneon player Astor Piazzolla. The Libertango movements will all be performed: Histoire du Tango - Bordel 1900- Cafe 1930 - Night club 1960 - Concert d'Aujourd Hui, showing Piazzolla’s new style, termed nuevo tango. His style incorporated elements from jazz and classical music. A virtuoso bandoneónist, Piazzolla regularly performed his own compositions with a variety of ensembles and performed internationally.
The Libertango! Concert will also feature Pacoca (Choro) by Celso Machaco; the highly-suggestive Carmen Fantasie by Francois Borne, inspired from Bizet’s Carmen and the flamboyant Granada composed by the Mexican composer Agustin Lara.
