Upcoming, talented soprano Christabelle Formosa will be performing at a lunchtime concert at the Oratory of St. Francis in Valletta on Tuesday, the 10th of January 2017 at 12:30pm. She will be singing a number of arias by the great Italian composer Giacomo Puccini as well as well-loved arias by Pietro Mascagni, Georg Handel, Dvorak, and Bellini.
The programme includes Bellini’s three of his melodious Composizioni da Camera, namely, ‘Ma rendi pur content’, ‘Per pietà, bell'idol mio’ and ‘Vaga luna, che inargenti’. The programme ensues with the baroque Handel’s aria ‘Farewell, ye limpid Springs’ from his opera ‘Jeptha’ and Mascagni’s ‘Son Pochi Fiori’ from his opera ‘L’Amico Fritz’. The programme will also feature Giacomo Puccini’s endearing ‘O Mio Babbino Caro’ from his opera ‘Gianni Schicchi’ and ‘Quando m’en vo’ from ‘La Boheme’. French opera will be represented with Massenet’s ‘Adieu, notre petite table’ from his opera ‘Manon’ which is his most popular and well-loved opera and lastly three songs from Dvorak’s Gypsy Songs.
The soprano will be accompanied by pianist Ramona Zammit Formosa who will be playing a number of piano solos.
Christabelle Formosa commenced her Vocal Studies at Johann Strauss School of Music under the direction of esteemed soprano Miriam Cauchi in 2008. She has recently completed the Diploma level in Vocal Studies. She has attended master-classes both in Malta and in Scotland organised as part of the Oxenfoord International Summer School. She has been singing from a tender age both as a soloist and also as a chorister at various concert platforms. In 2013 she has joined the Teatru Manoel Youth Opera (TMYO), where she has participated in the various performances including a concert with the MPO and two opera performances - Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas and Offenbach’s Orpheus in the Underworld.
