It is a great honour to present the upcoming exceptional artists who will be performing on Tuesday 1st November 2016 at the Oratory of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Valletta. These outstanding artist are hailed by the international media as “American Virtuosi.”

The Borowsky family has been praised world-wide for their outstanding musicianship. The five members of this exceptional musical family have won their way into the hearts of music lovers in more than 50 nations around the world.  It is a unique opportunity, not to be missed, to see the three members of the American Virtuosi performing in this concert Music from Around the World at the lunchtime concert in Valletta!

Audiences, musical experts, and diplomats have enthusiastically applauded them: not only for their musical achievements but also for exemplifying the effectiveness of a family working together in harmony.

“Like a Baltimore version of the Family von Trapp, the Borowsky family entertains audiences around the world with their classical music performances.” [Lisa Simeone/Baltimore Style Magazine]

"It’s hard to find a family more musically gifted than the Borowskys. They’ve been given a rock star reception in countless countries. International press has given them rave reviews. It takes a while to realize when reading the glowing testimonials, however, that the music they’re playing isn’t the next big thing. It’s classical." [The Towerlight]

“Your devotion to sharing your talents and representing Baltimore in different parts of the world should be a source of great pride for you. As mayor and personally, I offer my commendation in appreciation of the service you have rendered and in celebration of your past, present, and future success.” [Stephanie Rawlings Blake, Mayor of Baltimore]

Prestigious musical, social, and cultural organizations in the USA and abroad have honored them with awards and distinctions. Cecylia and Charles are both recipients of the Paderewski Award for Outstanding Contributions to Society and Culture. Frances, Emmanuel, and Elizabeth were awarded the Erick Friedman Prize for Outstanding Young Musicians, resulting a successful debut recital at Carnegie Hall. The Rhein-Neckar Kulturstiftung of Germany selected the Borowsky Family for a three-month artist residency at the Dilsberg Castle. The Borowsky discography includes 7 CDs and 2 DVDs of standard literature, music by contemporary composers, and their own original compositions. Performances around the world have often been broadcast live on radio or television. Their performance with the Polish Sinfonietta was broadcast world-wide by the POL-SAT network, and their performance of the Beethoven Triple Concerto while on tour with the Young German Symphony Orchestra was published as a DVD in 2009.

As soloists, they have performed with orchestras including the Tianjin Symphony Orchestra (China), Eisenach Festival Orchestra (Germany), Young German Symphony Orchestra (Germany), Poznan Symphony (Poland), National Conservatory Orchestra (Jordan), Israeli Soloists Orchestra (Israel), Szczecin Philharmonic (Poland), Loudon Symphony (USA), Katowice Philharmonic (Poland), Rzezow Chamber Orchestra (Poland), St. Christopher Orchestra (Lithuania), Šiauliai Chamber Orchestra (Lithuania), and Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (USA), among others.

In 2008, the Borowskys were invited and sponsored by the government of China to perform concerts welcoming the Olympics. This tour, “One World, One Dream, One Family” included diplomatic meetings, recitals, and a gala performance with the Tianjin Symphony Orchestra at which each member of the family performed a concerto with the orchestra. The concert culminated in a performance of the Borowsky’s own “Music From Around the World” with the orchestra. This tour inspired them to pursue and create a concert program “Music: the Best Bridge for All People.” On the invitation of respective ministries of culture, they have presented the program on tours of Indonesia, Korea, China, Germany, Vietnam, Ukraine, and Scandinavia; and most recently, Mexico and Cuba.

Additionally, The Borowsky give approximately 25-35 community performances each year; locally, nationally, and internationally. These include school presentations (in Baltimore: through the Baltimore Music Club's Performing Arts for Children's Education Program), and performances in hospitals (John's Hopkins Children's Center, Ronald McDonald House) and assisted living and senior centers (Symphony Manor, Brightview, The Maples, The Bykota Center, and Oak Crest Village). During international tours they frequently give masterclasses and special presentations at schools, community centers, places of worship, and other venues.

In 2003, The Borowsky founded The International Music Institute and Festival USA. Every July, outstanding young musicians from across the USA and around the world come to Maryland for a 2-week program of intense learning and performing under the guidance of the Borowsky family and renowned teacher-performers.

The venue, the baroque Oratory, was originally the friars’ refectory.  Over the years, it had been transformed into an oratory, hence it is beautifully adorned by magnificent baroque paintings, an elaborate gilded altarpiece and monks’ benches. The lunchtime concerts are a wonderful way to visit and enjoy the beautiful chapel.

The events are fund raising events for the Franciscan Church, which is undergoing extensive structural restoration. Tickets for the lunchtime concerts, costing 8 euro, can be obtained from the venue itself half an hour before the concert begins. For more details phone 7968 0952 or email: baroccomalta@gmail.com
