The second part of the progamme includes Schubert’s  Trio op. 100 of which two movements will be performed:Allegro - Andante con moto.

Bar-to-Bar Trio is an off-shoot of Bar-to-Bar Quintet, which consists of members of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra who are also deeply passionate about chamber music and relish every opportunity to perform in this more intimate formation.

The trio is a formed by Joanne Camilleri, Akos Kertesz and Klara Nazaj. Throughout their individual careers, they have collaborated with many renowned orchestras around the world including Orquesta de Extremadura, Orquesta do Algarve, Orquesta de Gran Canaria, Orchestra Sinfonica di Roma, Hungarian State Opera, Hyogo Performing Arts Centre Orchestra, Limburgs Symfonie Orkest, and Het Residentie Orkest.

Furthermore, they are regular members of other chamber ensembles: Maltese pianist Joanne Camilleri is member of the Goldberg Ensemble Malta, Valletta International Baroque Ensemble and also founding member of the Camilleri Trio.  Albanian-Italian violinist Klara Nazaj and Hungarian cellist Akos Kertesz are founding members of the Kalypso Ensemble.  The string players also form part of the MPO Quartet.

On top of their busy schedule, they are also active as soloists, performing a range of works from the Baroque to the Contemporary repertoire both in Malta and around Europe.  All musicians have several recordings in their various capacities to their credit.

Bar-to-Bar brings a wealth of experience and passionate commitment to the chamber music genre and their performances promise to be an unforgettable occasion.

The music performances take place in the baroque Oratory, which was originally the friars’ refectory.  Over the years, it had been transformed into an oratory; hence it is beautifully adorned by magnificent baroque paintings, an elaborate gilded altarpiece and original monks’ benches. The oratory is usually closed to the public; therefore the lunchtime concerts are a wonderful way to experience the fabulous music and the beautiful chapel.

The regular performances present varied performers and musicians, who present sparkling and stimulating classical music on a weekly basis. The events are fund raising events for the Franciscan Church, which is undergoing extensive structural restoration. Tickets for the lunchtime concerts, costing 8 euro, can be obtained from the venue itself half an hour before the concert begins. For more details phone 7968 0952 or email: baroccomalta@gmail.com
